Monthy Activities for all to enjoy!

Waffle Breakfasts are held the first Saturday of each month
Please join us for those wonderfully malty Belgian waffles that have been served for years, topped with fruit and whipped cream. The waffle breakfast is now held, not at the CBC, but at the Friend's Circle Hall - side entrance on 18th Avenue, across the street from our old location.
If you can volunteer your help at the upcoming waffle breakfasts, please contact Catherine VanHecke at 309-235-3765.
Lace Making Demonstrations on the afternoon of the first Saturday of each month
Please join us at the Center for Belgian Culture to see how true Belgian lace is made.
Volunteering at the Belgian Center
We are always looking for people willing to host or work the gift counter on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Please contact Diane Slininger at 309-792-2790 if you are interested in volunteering at the Center for Belgian Culture.

How can you support your Belgian Heritage?

Can you help us, please?
As many of you know, due to our former landlord's financial issues several years ago, we were forced to move to a new location. That move has nearly tripled our rent. Commercial real estate rates are not cheap. On the plus side, we have a nicer facility for showcasing our Belgian heritage, and by utilizing the Friends' Circle, we have a better facility for our waffle breakfasts. Those Monthly Waffle Breakfasts help pay our rent, while Membership Dues help pay for our newsletter, our insurance, and our utilities. The Birdies for Charity program pays for our scholarships.
Your Board of Directors has been looking at ways to meet our monthly expenses. With declining membership through attrition and lack of new members, positive cash flow is tough to come by. One idea that would help us is sponsorships of the breakfasts and the newsletters. Would members be willing to help underwrite a breakfast or a newsletter to allow us to cover the cost of those two items? That would help provide some extra money to allow us programming possibilities.
You can support your Center for Belgian Culture in many ways by volunteering, advocating, or mailing donations and suggestions to: Center for Belgian Culture, 1608 seventh Street, Moline, IL 61265.
In addition to volunteering please consider the following options:
     Waffle Breakfast sponsorship: $300.00
     Newsletter sponsorship: $150.00
     Memorials
     Wills
Sponsorship acknowledgements will be provided at the sponsored breakfast, and in the newsletter. Please remember all donations and sponsorship is also tax deductible.
All other donations will also be acknowledged in the newsletter.

The Center for Belgian Culture Endowment Fund was opened towards establishing a long term avenue for funding for the future. Initially funded with funds from the Center, modest investment gains have provided some growth and members, friends and supporters are encouraged to consider helping us grow this fund.
The CBC Endowment Fund is professionally managed fund by the leading non-profit foundation in the Midwest and provides a tool to designate your tax exempt funds towards long term preservation of the Belgian Heritage.
